Bengaluru: South End Road faces traffic jams

BWSSB authorities said the road first was dug up to replace the sanitary and drinking water pipe and then to shift utilities and cables.

Bengaluru: South End Road and surrounding areas, including Lakshman Rao Boulevard road, witnessed traffic chaos on Friday.

Firstly, the BWSSB had dug up the South End Road for the second time in a month and second, there was a large gathering at the South End circle for the inauguration of bust of Parvathamma Rajkumar, producer and wife of icon Dr Rajkumar.

BWSSB authorities said the road first was dug up to replace the sanitary and drinking water pipe and then to shift utilities and cables.

Commuters had a nightmarish experience. Srinath, a resident of Puttenahalli, said that even during non-peak hours traffic movement was at a snail’s pace. The BWSSB had taken up the digging without prior intimation. BWSSB and BBMP must coordinate and work, so that the public is informed about the inconvenience, he added.
