Temperature comes down with sudden rain in Hyderabad

The city earlier in the day recorded a maximum of 40.1ºC.

Hyderabad: A thunderstorm of moderate intensity along with gusty winds and heavy rain hit Hyderabad on Thursday evening, bringing down temperatures by about 10ºC. The city earlier in the day recorded a maximum of 40.1ºC.

Adilabad was the hottest place in the state, recording 45ºC. Towns which traditionally record high temperatures, like Ramagundam and Bhadrachalam, were relatively more comfortable.

The highest rainfall was recorded at BHEL, Ramachandrapuram followed by Patancheru and Quthbullapur. Following the sudden change in weather, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy issued a precautionary alert asking all project engineers to ensure safety arrangements. He ordered proper barricading to be provided at all excavated trenches to avoid any untoward incident.

The IMD has issued a thunderstorm alert for the state from June 1 to 3. It said thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places across majority of the districts. The city is likely to receive rain or thundershowers towards the evening or night on Friday.
