SRDP works halt traffic in the fast lanes of Hitec City
Hyderabad: Commuters in Gachibowli, especially at Biodiversity junction, are stuck in traffic snarls, with the road dug up as part of the Strategic Road Develop-ment Plan (SRDP). Making matters worse are patrons stopping to pick up haleem at Khajaguda and work on the drainage is pending, damaging the road.
Techie B.V. Srini Raju said, “Petrol/diesel prices are increasing and we are burning our pockets due to bad traffic. The scorching heat is leaving us drained. There seems to be no way around the dreadful traffic.”
Another commuter K. Karthik said, “We boarded a cab at about 10 am and for 30 minutes we couldn’t cross the entrance of Divya Sree Orion. It becomes single lane road after 8 pm.”
The flyover will be completed early next year. The GHMC says there is a proposal to build a three-lane service road to divert traffic. Fifteen of the 16 properties have been acquired and one is in court. Once complete acquisition is done, a road can be built in 20 days. Cyberabad traffic police has deployed senior officers to regulate the traffic. “Traffic police is regularly co-ordinating with GHMC for the development of the service road till the completion of the flyover and SRDP work,” said Traffic DCP Vijay Kumar.
