Liquor outlets in Kerala to sport new look

Uniform colour combinations, better interiors at Bevco.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Drinking will become more ecstatic in dreamy settings in Bevco outlets in the state soon. The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (KSBC) has kicked off a renovation drive of its shops with a uniform colour combination and better interiors. All the Bevco outlets will have a colour combination of red, yellow and blue, making it easier for the consumers to locate the shops. The interiors will also be spruced up with air-conditioning, music system and better display of products.

The renovation project is being piloted at the shop at Power House road near Pazhavangadi here and it would be extended to other shops in a phased manner. With Bevco gearing up for the sale of Foreign Made Foreign Liquor (FMFL) and Foreign Made Wine (FMW), separate shelves for these brands are also being set up at the premium counters.

“The renovation of the Power House junction shop is nearing completion. It would be a model and after getting the feedback, we will initiate renovation of all the shops,” said KSBC managing director H. Venkatesh. The KSBC has already initiated behavioural training sessions for its staff. A mobile app that helps customers to easily locate the availability of any specific brands in each shop and rewards to shops on the basis of customer friendliness and ambience are other reforms in the pipeline.

The token system introduced at busy shops and point of sale machines for debit/credit card payments are also being extended to all shops. Meanwhile, the launch of sale of FMFL and FMW through Bevco outlets is getting delayed as certain amendments are needed in Abkari laws to allow the sale of FMFL and FMW in the state.
