Bengaluru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in his first meeting with the senior IPS officers on Thursday assured them that he would not interfere in their official functioning and would give them a free hand to do their duty.
Senior officers of and above the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) led by the head of police force - Director General and Inspector General of Police Neelmani Raju had gone to pay a courtesy visit to the newly appointed CM in his office in Vidhana Soudha. According to sources, Mr Kumaraswamy told the officers that their tenure (of minimum one year) in an office will be protected and there would be no nepotism, caste or community considerations in the posting and transfer of officers.
“Work will be rewarded and you must work without fear. I will not let any political interference affect the functioning of the police department. I expect you to do your work and maintain public order. I am available to you in case of any difficulty,” the CM assured the officers.
He, however, asked them to stay away from illegal property dealings, land sharks and real estate mafia.
“Ensure safety of people and maintain law and order. Have zero tolerance for any disruption in public order, illegal and rowdy activity,” he said.Mr Kumarawamy told the officers that he would hold a review meeting with them after the formation of the Cabinet.
