Kerala: Plan to convene meet of CMs of all states
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said the state was planning to convene a meeting of chief ministers of all states in the wake of Centre's notification restricting the sale of cattle for slaughter.
At the Cabinet briefing the chief minister said the proposed meeting would be held here to discuss the restrictions, Centre's repeated attack on the federal structure. The meet will also discuss Centre-State relations in the back drop of the recent developments.
Earlier chief minister had taken the lead in writing a letter to all chief ministers about Centre's attack on their powers. He had also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking repeal of the Centre's notification.
With chief ministers of Karnataka, Puducherry, West Bengal airing similar concerns, there is a strong possibility of the states especially those ruled by non BJP parties, evolving a consensus on the issue.
The government is also planning to convene a special session of State Assembly to discuss the Centre's notification imposing restriction on sale of cattle for slaughter.
