Maoism wiped out from Telangana, claims DGP
Hyderabad: DGP Anurag Sharma claimed here on Tuesday that Maoism has been wiped out from Telangana in the last two years. The Telangana police is now one of the finest police forces in the country with its citizen friendly policies and modernisation of its fleet, he said.
Addressing the media here, the DGP said the police would use the methods used by the London police and the New York police department. The DGP along with a team of senior officials visited the US and UK to study the enforcement agencies in the West.
The DGP rejected the view that there was a racial angle in the attack on a Nigerian student here. It happened due to a “spur-of-the-moment response after a dispute over parking.”
To questions on Left wing extremism, he said ultras coming from neighbouring states were creating trouble in border areas. “Maoist activities have come down. However, we are alert and will keep a watch in Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts,” he said.
Hinting at strict action against Naxals, the DGP said, “We will be tough with those do not engage in violence.” On corruption in the police, he said stringent action was being taken against such cops whenever such cases surfaced.
