Vijayawada: APSRTC switches on coolers at PNBS

He said that more coolers should be installed in the bus station for the convenience of the passengers at all the platforms.

Vijayawada: In a bid to provide relief to the passengers in the scorching heat, the RTC authorities installed big coolers at platforms at the Pundit Nehru bus station in Vijayawada and NTR bus station in Guntur on Tuesday.

The cool breeze from the coolers is helping the young and the old commuters get the much-needed relief from the sizzling heat.

Both the cities record temperatures above 420C during peak summer. The APSRTC authorities informed that 25 big coolers were installed at the PNBS in Vijayawada and four at NTR bus station in Guntur. They said that water is being supplied to the coolers through pipes.

A passenger at Nehru bus station, B. Raja Rao, said that he and his family were waiting for a bus to Tirupati and that it was good to have the coolers in the bus station, specially with the temperatures hovering around 450C in Vijayawada.

K. Mahalakshmi, another passenger, said even the seating arrangement was suitable for the commuters in the entire waiting area get cool breeze.

Sk Meera Vali, another commuter, said that the intensity of heat has been increasing from 9 am itself. He said that it would be better if the RTC authorities continue to provide this facility till summer ends.

He said that more coolers should be installed in the bus station for the convenience of the passengers at all the platforms.
