Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams plans a ‘green carpet welcome’

Apart from this, planting of Gardenias (aromatic plants) is underway at some places.

Tirupati: To attract the tens of thousands of visitors who throng the temple city of Tirupati for pilgrimage, the TTD is contemplating to offer a ‘Green carpet Welcome’ to its visitors by developing a bio wall on a huge scale.

During his inspection at Alipiri, Sapthagiri Junctions and Padmavathi Nilayam amenities complex on Tuesday, Tirupati JEO Mr B Lakshmi Kantham said, “The roads laid by TTD in Tirupati stretches to about 26 km, including nine arterial roads. We want to develop green cover in a big way leaving the area which falls under Garuda Varadhi and smart city corporation limits and we have been intensively working on this from the past one and a half months. By June, Tirupati will don a completely new look,” the JEO maintained.

The JEO said that Alipiri junction too will soon get a new look. “On a trial run we have carried out illumination of the Garuda statue that has grabbed the attention of denizens,” Mr Lakshmikantham said.

“Similarly, we want to develop all the junctions under our purview,” he added. Tall trees like Sypholobium japonicum (Pogada), Spathodea and Peltophorum popularly known as the flame of the forest have been planted in PAN building area at Tiruchanoor since the area has concrete floor, while the Bougainvillea have come up very well in the junctions, he explained.

Apart from this, planting of Gardenias (aromatic plants) is underway at some places.
