Kochi: 80.7 per cent polling at Kadungalloor

As expected large turnout of voters was witnessed at the booth in the first hours and in the first five hours, 49.45 per cent polling was recorded.

Kochi: Kadungalloor in Ernakulam Parliament constituency, where re-polling was conducted on Tuesday, has registered total turnout of 80.7 per cent. When the re-polling ended by 6 PM on Tuesday, a total of 736 voters including 362 men and 374 women exercised their franchise. Re-polling was conducted in the booth number 83 East Kadungalloor Service Cooperative Bank auditorium of the Kalamassery assembly constituency. The booth has total 912 voters.

As expected large turnout of voters was witnessed at the booth in the first hours and in the first five hours, 49.45 per cent polling was recorded.

Candidates of three major political fronts Hibi Eden, P Rajeev and Alphons Kannanthanam visited the booth on Tuesday morning. District collector Muhammad Y Safirulla recommended re-polling in the booth after the number of votes found in electronic voting machine was greater than the actual number of votes polled. Though only 715 people exercised franchise on April 23, the machine showed the total number of votes as 758, which is an excess of 43.

The district administration has made all necessary arrangements for smooth and peaceful re-polling. In the state, re-polling was ordered for only one booth.
