Hyderabad: Showpiece by month end
Hyderabad: The Musi River Development Corporation (MRDC) officials assured that they would clean up the five-km stretch of the Musi river from Chaderghat to Puranapul before the end of May.
They said that the corporation would remove debris, clear the sludge, and remove weeds especially along the stretch near the High Court which, at this point, is highly contaminated.
A senior MRDC official said that the corporation had kickstarted the Musi cleaning project a week ago and that they were seeking financial assistance from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
In June last year, the state government had issued ab order asking the HMDA to invest Rs 100 crore into the Musi riverfront project.
The official stated that of the 5-km stretch, the MRDC will specifically concentrate on cleaning and beautification of the stretch near the High Court as it was more contaminated compared to the rest of the stretch. While this stretch could be cleaned within a month, the entire stretch could take up to two and a half years.
