Road flooded near Embassy Golf Links in Domlur

Heavy rains flooded Intermediate Ring Road, Domlur, Indiranagar and KR Puram.

Bengaluru: Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds brought East Benglauru to its knees on Monday evening. Across the city, over 10 trees were uprooted, while five branches crashed.

Heavy rains flooded Intermediate Ring Road, Domlur, Indiranagar and KR Puram. Newly laid drains, instead of bringing relief, are causing flooding across the city because of bad planning and execution, said Meenakshi, a resident of Indiranagar.

Areas that were never flooded for the last 30 years are getting flooded now. Knee-deep waters were seen on 14 Main of Indiranagar and children were seen wading in. The children, if not careful, could be washed away into the nearby main drain, she said.

The BBMP has to gets its basic right while constructing or repairing the drains. Traffic was bumper to bumper in most parts of the city, other citizens complained.

Tree uprooted in Shivajinagar, Banasawadi, Viveknagar, BTM Layout, Thippasandra and other areas. Met authorities said that pre-monsoon showers will always be accompanied by gusty wind.
