Prakash Karat flays Congress for liberalisation

He said the Congress had introduced the neo-liberalisation policies.

KOZHIKODE: CPM politburo member Prakash Karat on Mondaycriticised the Congress for initiating the liberalisation policies. "The Modi government has continued the policies of the second UPA government. There should be an alternative politics to counter the fascist policies of the BJP," Mr Karat said after inaugurating the martyrs' day at Onchiyam, near Vadakara.

He said the Congress had introduced the neo-liberalisation policies. "So, it is impossible to bank on Congress for alternative politics. The workers' collectives cannot accept the corporate policies of the Congress," he said.

"The BJP is destroying the secular values in the country. All the policies of the Modi government are in favour of the corporates. Modi is even trying to change the Constitution to make India a Hindu nation. Dalits and workers are being killed in the name of cows," he alleged. The event was attended among others by Labour and Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan, CPM district secretary P. Mohanan, P. Satheedevi, E.K. Vijayan MLA and Sathyan Mokeri.
