PMK slams MK Stalin on Cauvery issue
Chennai: Tearing into DMK Working President MK Stalin, the PMK on Sunday asked whether he will quit politics if it was proved that the DMK had betrayed the interests of Tamil Nadu on Cauvery issue and ethnic Tamils on the Sri Lankan issue.
In a statement, PMK spokesperson K.Balu also targeted Stalin for not answering questions posed by him on Cauvery and other issues directly but instead asking one of his lieutenants, MRK Panneerselvam, to respond.
“It is the commander who has to lead the team of warriors in a battle and it is not fair on the part of Stalin to have chosen Panneerselvam as a human shield to protect him. Anbumani challenged Mr Stalin for a debate on Cauvery in the interests of the state. It was not for publicity”, Balu said in a statement.
Balu’s statement comes after Panneerselvam rejected the demand from Anbumani Ramadoss for an open debate with Stalin on issues concerning the state. Quoting Panneerselvam’s statement, Balu said the DMK claims it had not betrayed the interests of people of Tamil Nadu.
“Why did the Tamil Nadu Government not press for the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board? Will Mr Stalin and Mr Panneerselvam quit politics if we prove that there is no connection between the appeal against Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and constitution of Cauvery Management Board?” he asked.
