Long weekend: All roads lead to Mysuru

The occupancy at hotels touched almost 100 per cent on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the first time this season.

Mysuru: Tourist arrivals in the City of Palaces, Mysuru, reached its peak during the long weekend with hotel occupancy reaching near 100 per cent on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the first time this season.

To make sure the tourists had their share of entertainment, cultural programmes in front of Mysuru Palace, which are usually restricted to Dasara, were held from Saturday with the district administration hosting Yugadi Sangeethotsav. Mysuru Zoo, which usually sees over 5,000 tourists on weekdays and over 10,000 during the weekends, saw an inflow of 16,752 tourists on Saturday and as many 31,519 tourists on Sunday.

Hotel Owners’ Association Head C Narayangowda said, “While 10 percent of the tourists are from Karnataka, 90 per cent are from other states including 25 percent from Kerala, 30 percent from Tamil Nadu, 15 percent from Telangana, 10 percent each from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.”

The tourists were also treated to the Police band concert and a music concert by Ajay Warrior, on Saturday. On Sunday there was a music concert by Sri Vidyabhushan and team and on Monday, a violin concert by international violin exponents Mysuru Manjunath and Mysuru Nagaraj has been organised.
