Rodent incident: MGM superintendent transferred, 2 duty doctors suspended

Hanamkonda: The state government has transferred hospital superintendent Srinivas Rao and suspended two doctors at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) hospital, citing 'negligence', after a 42-year-old patient was bitten by rodents.

Health minister Harish Rao called for an inquiry and asked the health officials to ensure proper medical attention to the patient.

Department officials rushed in and inspected the RICU (respiratory ICU) and the hospital premises. They handed over a report to the government and action followed. The government also handed over full additional charge to Dr Chandrasekhar who was formerly the hospital superintendent.

In a statement, the health minister warned the officials against negligence in attending to the patients and said that otherwise “stringent action will follow.”
