Hyderabad: In a number of road accidents, haemorrhage often leads to death. After the accident, the first hour which is called the Golden Hour is very critical for the victims and at times by stopping the bleeding, lives can be saved. A med-tech company called Axio Biosolutions has come up with a new product Axiostat, first-aid dressing, which stops bleeding within just 2-3 minutes.
A natural biomaterial, chitosan, which is obtained from Shellfish, is used after being modified for medical application. At present the Army and Paramilitary Forces are using Axiostat for bullet and blast injuries across 130 battalions. Especially in Naxalite hit areas, it is being used. Recently Axiostat was used in the 2016 surgical strike, where it was used to save the life of a soldier, said Samar Mirdha, vice-president of Axio Biosolutions Private Limited.
