MYSURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah raced through 22 villages in Chamundeswari Assembly constituency, from where he plans to contest the Assembly polls, with a simple request: vote for the good candidate.
Mr Siddaramaiah visited Maidanahall, Megalapura, Mallegowdanakoppalu, Chikkanahall, Anandooru, Kallooru Naganahalli, Kallooru, Yadahalli, Ramanahalli, Sagarakatte, Hosakote, Yaachegowdanahalli, Dadadakallahalli, Rattanahalli, Gungral Chathra, Yalachahalli, Karakanahalli, Eerappanakoppalu, Halekaamanakoppalu, Nagavaala and Ilawala.
At some places, he stepped out to interact with villagers or visit temples, but in a couple of other villages, the Chief Minister waved at people as his car slowed down. At many places, he obliged requests for selfies with villagers of the constituency.
When asked about speculation over former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s son Mr Vijendra set to take on his son Dr S Yatindra in Varuna constituency, he told the media: “Anyone can contest elections. But it is the people who decide on who will win. People of Varuna will elect those who have done good work,” he added.
He reiterated that he owed a lot to people of Chamundeswari constituency, saying had they not elected him 2006 he could not have become the CM. People of the constituency had blessed him thrice in five elections. So he would contest his last election from Chamundeswari constituency to repay their debt, he added.
His son Dr S Yatindra who is being taught the political ropes and other Congress leaders accompanied the Chief Minister.
