RINL CMD, P. Madhusudan, commended the efforts of VMS and CSR department for taking up the initiative by adopting the emerging technology in achieving Swachh-RINL and hoped that the facility would definitely eliminate open defecation in the township.

Access to clean and hygienic toilet is a basic requirement for every individual. Taking into account these points and to take Swachh Bharat movement to the next level, installation of these aesthetically designed toilets made of stainless steel and fitted with an array of sensors, to monitor the functioning round-the-clock, has been taken up.

When the toilet is occupied, an indicator fitted on top of the toilet will turn from green to red. After the user comes out, the toilet is cleaned automatically with auto-flush mechanism. After every tenth use of the toilet, it also cleans the toilet floor. The floor can also be cleaned on command with a push button provided.

The toilets are GPRS enabled. Even during a power shutdown, the toilets will work for six hours using battery back-up. When water level drops in the overhead tank, it will alert the officials concerned.

Further, the doors are automatically locked if there is no water in the overhead tank. Due to these factors, the toilets will always remain tidy.
