AP police wins all-India third place at 66th Police Meet

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Police Department has won third place while its personnel won eight medals, including two gold, at the 66th All-India Police Duty Meet-2022 held at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh from Feb 13 to 17.

DGP Rajendranath Reddy felicitated the officers who won the medals, at his office on Tuesday. He also congratulated LKV Ranga Rao, inspector general, sports and welfare, who led the team. The awards were won in three categories -- scientific aid to an investigation, computer awareness, and shooting.

For the first time, the DGP presented cash prizes to the medal winners. A sum of ₹10,000 was given to gold medal winners, ₹8,000 to silver medalists and ₹5,000 to bronze medal winners.

The department has also announced a ₹3 lakh cash prize and three increments to gold medal winners; a₹ 2 lakh cash prize and two increments to the silver medal winners; and a ₹1 lakh cash prize and one increment to bronze winners.

The AP state police won two gold, four silver, and two bronze medals and stood third across the country. The state police also bagged the winner’s trophy and runner-up trophy. Over 2,000 police officers from 11 departments related to 24 states, and 28 teams from the Central Police Organisation participated.

In the scientific aid category, JRK Hanish Babu, the inspector of police, in Vijayawada city, won a gold medal in the forensic science written test and a silver medal in lifting, packing and forwarding exhibits. S Mansuruddin, the inspector of police, Dharmavaram, won silver in the forensic science written test.

Ch Siva Subramanyam, SI, CID, won gold in programming ability, and J Kiran Kumar, head constable, CI cell, intelligence, won bronze in computer awareness. U Hymavathi, SI, won silver for crime scene photography, and Ch Santosh Kumar, PC, Octopus, won silver in shooting (40 meters) and bronze in 50 meters.
