₹4,000 crore for power supply in Jagananna colonies

Sriranganatha Raju advised officials to identify beneficiaries who have not yet started building their houses and encourage them to do so

Kakinada: Housing minister Ch. Sriranganatha Raju on Monday said state government has allocated ₹ 4,000 crore for providing power supply to 17,000 Jagananna colonies, where 32 lakh houses are coming up.

Reviewing progress of work in these colonies with officials and public representatives at Toorpupalem village in Poduru mandal of West Godavari district, the minister said MLAs concerned have given public representatives responsibility for speedy completion of 50–75 houses in their respective areas.

Sriranganatha Raju advised officials to identify beneficiaries who have not yet started constructing their houses and encourage them to do so. He pointed out that the government released ₹ 22.88 crore to 4,399 beneficiaries who have successfully completed construction of their houses last month. State government has released another ₹ 52.63 crore for beneficiaries who are expected to complete their houses in the coming months.

The minister said 4,000 metric tonnes of cement, iron, sand and other materials are available in West Godavari district at present. Officials will release these materials to beneficiaries as per their requirements.

Zilla parishad chairperson Kavuru Srinivas, ZP floor leader G. Peddi Raju, MPP Sabbathi Sumangali and others were present at the review meeting.
