We have proof of Balakot damage: IAF
New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday said that it has “fairly credible evidence” that there was intended damage on Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Balakot camp in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it was for the government on how to share it.
IAF had hit the camp in a in a pre-dawn “pre-emptive” air strike on Tuesday.
“There is a fairly credible evidence with us that there was damage in the camps and weapons hit the intended target and caused damage that was intended. However, it will be premature to say what is the number of casualty we were able to inflict on those camps and what is the number of deaths,” said Air Vice Marshal R.G. K. Kapoor, assistant chief of Air Staff during a joint media briefing along with the Navy and Indian Army officials.
He said that its up to the government how and when the evidence should be given or not. The Army and the Navy officials said the armed forces are on high alert and ready to meet any security challenge on land and sea.
Indian Army’s Major General S.S. Mahal said escalation of tensions had been done by Pakistan but India was prepared for any contingency if the enemy provoked it.
“We continue to maintain strict vigil along the Line of Control and the IB (international border) Sector. Our ground based air defence weapon systems have been put on alert on all along the Line of Control (LoC) and some parts of the IB. Mechanised formations too have been placed on standby. I wish to assure the nation that we are fully prepared and in a heightened state of readiness to respond to any provocation by Pakistan,” he said.
Rear Admiral of the Indian Navy Dalbir Singh Gujral said the force was in a high state of readiness to deal with any Pakistan maritime misadventure.
