Venkateswara paraded on his pet Garuda Vahanam

Participating in the procession, TTD Tirupati JEO B. Lakshmikantham said the 12.5 kg Lakshmi haram was lent by Srivari Temple for Garuda seva.

Tirupati: On the fifth day of the on-going Brahmotsavam of Lord Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple of Srinivasa Mangapuram, Garuda seva, the glittering and auspicious event, was held in a grand manner on Thursday night.

The Garuda seva assu-mes significance as according to legends and Puranas, the devotees who get darshan of Lord Venkate-swara on his pet vahana of Garuda will get Moksham easily.

As part of the Utsavam, the processional deity of Lord Kalyana Venkatesw-ara Swamy seated majestically atop Garuda Vahana encircled the temple streets and enthralled the devotees, who converged here at the temple premises.

Meanwhile, earlier in the morning as per tradition, the Andal garlands for decoration of the Garuda seva were brought in a grand procession fr-om the Govindaraja Swamy Temple to Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram.

The procession of the garlands on a caparisoned elephant exuded devotion with bhajans, Kolatam and drum beats in praise of Lord Venkateswara.

The garlands were adorned on the Mula Virat of Lord Kalyana Venkateswara temple after traditional rituals. The same garlands were decorated on the utsava idols of Garuda seva held in the evening.

Later, as part of the Brahmotsavams, the precious and prestigious Lakshmi Haram lent by Srivari Te-mple to adorn the Holy Garuda seva of Lord Kaly-ana Venkateswara Swamy was grandly paraded in a Shobha Yatra on Thursday evening from TTD administrative building.

Participating in the procession, TTD Tirupati JEO B. Lakshmikantham said the 12.5 kg Lakshmi haram was lent by Srivari Temple for Garuda seva.

Two other ornaments — gold Pagada and gold Aswatha patria haram both weighing 2.9 kg were also gifted to Lord Kaly-ana Venkateswara Swamy Temple on the occasion of the Brahmotsavams.

He said the TTD was committed to the development of the temple at a cost of '7 crore. The commissioner of archaeology, Vani Mohann, who visited the temple on Wednesday, approved plans for construction of Potu and godown at a cost of '5 crore to bring the temple on par with the Srivari temple.

Earlier, Srivari Temple DyEO Harindranath, Pei-shkar Ramesh Babu, bro-ught the grand haram to Tirupati. The Shobha Yat-ra reached the temple he-re via Kodandarama Swa-my Temple, Ramachandra Pushkarini and Mahati Auditorium along with Bhajans and Kolatam teams.

Sankara out on Makara vahanam in Tirupati’s Kapileswara temple

On the morning of the fourth day of the ongoing Brahmotsavam on Thurs-day, Lord Somaskanda Murthy took a celestial ride on Makara vahanam at the Kapileswara temple in Tirupati.

Makara vahanam symbolises power and stren-gth reminding one about the Gajendra moksham episode as presented in the Bhagavatham.

Meanwhile, at the end of the day, the processional deity of Lord Kapileswara was taken out in a procession atop Sesha vahanam. The Lord was decked with dazzling jewels and clothes.

Temple Dy EO Subrama-nyam, VGO Ashok Kumar Goud, AEO Nagaraj, archakas and devotees took part.
