Thiruvananthpuram: Reply to murder politics, says Oommen Chandy
Thiruvananthpuram: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday called upon people to give a befitting reply to CPM’s murder politics.
Inaugurating the Jana-mahayathra led by KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran at Gandhi park here, Mr Chandy said a government which is responsible for protecting the life and property of citizens was itself backing politics of murder. “Of the 20 murders that took place in the state since LDF came to power in the state, CPM is involved in 16,” he alleged.
He said the coming elections were a big opportunity to defeat the forces which indulge in politics of murder. The response received by the yatra led by Mullapally Ramachandran reflected the people’s anger against the state and the Central governments.
Mr Chandy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to fulfil the promises made to people. “Modi came to power promising employment and check on price rise. For the last five years he didn’t do anything for people. He promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of each person. Now on the polls he is giving Rs 2,000 thus cheating the people,” he said.
The BJP government failed to check the rising prices of prices of essential commodities. The people of the country are reeling under price rise at the moment.
Mr Chandy said Modi had promised to create 2 crore annually. He failed to create jobs and lakhs of people lost employment because of demonetisation and GST.
KPCC president Mull-apally Ramachandran, opp-osition leader Ramesh Chennithala, K Muralee-dharan, MLA, former KPCC presidents M.M. Hassan and V.M. Sudheeran addressed the gathering.
