Telangana: PFC Rajiv Sharma chairman extends aid to power projects
Hyderabad: Appreciating the fast-track construction of power plants in Telangana, Power Finance Corporation (PFC) chairman Rajiv Sharma expressed willingness to extend finance to projects. Mr Sharma along with a delegation met Telangana State Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi on Wednesday at the Secretariat.
He said Telangana had become a role model in the power sector for the country. He also came forward to extend finance to electrical components of prestigious power projects.
Later, he met TSGenco and Transco chairman and managing-director D. Prabhakar Rao and others at Vidyut Soudha. Mr Pabhakar Rao told Mr Sharma that construction of the 800-MW Manuguru power plant had been completed and arrangements were made to start the plant by next month end.
Two units of the 1,084-MW Bhadradri plant would be operational by December-end and two others by next June. He said works on the 4,000-MW Yadadri plant were going on in good pace.
Mr Sharma said Telangana State had achieved development on the power sector in a short span and congratulated the government and power organisations for working in coordination. “The doubts we had on Telangana State that it would become power deficit have been busted. The State had made rapid strides in the power sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, power consumption in Telangana State crossed the 10,000-MW mark. On Wednesday morning, the demand reached 10,100 MW. The PFC chairman and other officials said it was praiseworthy that despite such a demand there is no power shutdown even for a minute. They said such demand was not there in many States. Despite the demand, uninterrupted supply and 24X7 quality power for the agriculture sector was an extra-ordinary achievement.
