Online registration: Sub-registrars asked to send feedback

Chennai: After a stuttering start, the 'resilient' state registration department has sought feedbacks from sub-registrars and district registrars to further tuning of online property registration process in the state.

"Feedbacks of sub-registrar who directly engage with the public is necessary to buff up the online process," J. Kumaragurubaran, Inspector General of Registration, said. He also directed the district registrar to send the feedbacks regarding upgradation and changes in the process before March 7.

The online registration process that has been rolled out by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on February 12 proved to be an uphill task as the officials and the public found difficult to register documents. However, the department, with the assistance of IIT-Madras, had overcome the obstacles.

According to the registration department officials, as many as 77,065 documents have been registered through the new online process. "The department had registered over 9,617 documents through online on Wednesday. Prior to the rolling out of the new process, around 8,000 documents only had been registered," the official added.
