GHMC revises madhapur tunnel project

The GHMC has reduced the length of the tunnel from 5.5 kilometres to 2.5 kilometres.

HYDERABAD: Citing financial crisis, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has revised Madhapur tunnel project that connects Inorbit mall with Khajaguda junction. The GHMC has reduced the length of the tunnel from 5.5 kilometres to 2.5 kilometres.

Through this, the project cost has been reduced from '1,400 crores to '600 crores. As part of long term plans and to handle the traffic volume in Madhapur and neighbouring areas, the GHMC planned to take up this massive project.

Under this initiative, a tunnel covering a length of over 500 metres is being planned from Inorbit Mall towards Khajaguda junction, beneath the hillock in the area.

Earlier, the GHMC had planned a 5.5 kilometre road connecting Inorbit Mall to Chitrapuri Colony via Hyderabad Knowledge City, Khajaguda junction, extending up to Phoenix Junction via Nanakramguda, Outer Ring Road.
