Chennai: In a major decision to help the children with special needs (CWSN), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to allow them to write class 10 and 12 board exams by using computer or laptop. However, candidates have to submit a certificate issued by a doctor or qualified psychological consultant recommending use of a computer.As per the decision, the recommendation should also mention grounds for using computers.
“The use of computer shall be limited to only for typing the answers, for viewing the questions in enlarged font size and for listening the question items,” the CBSE’s exam committee order said. It further said the candidates shall bring their own computer or laptop duly formatted and the computer or laptop should not have any internet connection.
The exam committee also suggested a relaxation of up to 50 per cent for candidates with special needs who could not attend school.
