Budget 2016: It's a leap for Karnataka projects
Bengaluru: The highest ever allocation for NREGA, rural roads and agriculture, new road projects under the extremely-aided project category and the Prime Minister’s rural road scheme are all expected to ensure more Union funding for the state.
Also, besides several schemes for Karnataka and Bengaluru in particular ,which will be implemented through foreign aid, the Union Budget has come out with a new highway scheme, new schools and skill training institutes which are expected to bring more Central schemes to the state.
An officer of the Public Works Department says revival of the stalled national highway project will help the state complete several of its own incomplete projects. "The state has several national highway proposals pending before the Union surface transport department. The new policy is expected to clear many of them which will ensure balanced development across the state,” he said.
Many feel that incentives announced for the agricultural sector could also help the state’s farming sector which is facing its worst ever crisis. New projects like a dialysis unit in every district hospital, and Rs 1 lakh health insurance for senior citizens from BPL families could come as a big relief for villagers in Karnataka, they note.
