YSRC cadres in Parchur upset over decision to admit Hithesh Chenchuram
Chirala: Followers of YSR Congress leader Ravi Ramanatham Babu are up in arms against the party for its proposal to allot Parchur assembly seat in Prakasam district to Daggubati Hithesh Chenchuram.
Reminding the party that Ramanatha Babu had been taking care of the segment for the last two years as a coordinator and had considerably strengthened the party further, his followers have been advising the party to reconsider the decision.
“People are laughing at us for admitting Hithesh when his mother is continuing in BJP. Gottipati Bharath was taking care of the segment for 4 years and Ramanatha Babu came into picture and strengthened the base”, a YSR Congress loyalist.
Pointing to TD legislator Yeluri Sambasiva Rao's committed efforts to develop Parchur assembly segment and Mr Babu's moves to highlight the shortcomings, he expressed surprise over disturbing the setup and diluting the cadre base at a time when elections were around the corner.
“Though Mr Rao was putting all his efforts to transform the segment, a section of people are opposing him. Mr Babu has been trying to secure the support of the dissidents but YSRC bigwigs have thrown a spanner in the works”, a YSRC leader observed.
He also wondered about the reasons why Hitesh joined the party when group politics was ruling the roost and there was hardly any backing for them from the party men and locals. Leaders attributed this to the lack of interaction between the family and the constituents unlike Mr Babu who had a strong connect.
“We don't know what kind of benefit the party will derive because of Hitesh joining the party”, a leader said.
