Bengaluru: In an hit and run case, a 55-year-old pedestrian died on the spot after an unknown vehicle knocked him down while he was crossing the road in Chikkajala traffic police station limits on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Chennappa, a resident of Sonappanahalli and a daily wage worker. The police said the incident took place around 7:30 am near Bettahalasuru cross on the Kempegowda International Airport road.
According to the police, an unknown vehicle driven in a rash and negligent manner, knocked him down. Chennappa sustained severe injuries and passersby rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The Chikkajala traffic police have registered a case and shifted his body to Yelahanka government hospital for postmortem. The police are examining the CCTV footage in the vicinity to identify the vehicle.
