Telangana hikes home guard perks, allowance to Rs 675
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday issued orders enhancing various allowances being paid to home guards and extend welfare schemes to them.
The orders were issued as per the promises made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao earlier.
Daily duty allowance was increased to RS 675 from RS 400. A corresponding increase in daily duty allowance will be effected from April 1 of every year so as to result in an increase to Rs 1,000 per month.
Pollution hazard allowance would be sanctioned to each of the 2,500 home guards engaged in traffic regulation duties on par with traffic police constables, which will be 30 per cent on honorarium. Uniform allowance would be on par with police constables.
Maternity leave of six months would be provided to women home guards (limited to two children) like for women police constables and there would be paternity leave of 15 days to male home guards (limited to two children).
Diet charges will be provided for major bandobust duties on par with police constables.
Home guards would also be entitled to medical treatment along with the provision of medicines in respective unit police hospitals.
Incidental charges from the Flag Fund were doubled to Rs 10,000 to the families of homeguards who died in service. The government also approved in principle to provide health insurance cover to homeguards and all the dependent family members in addition to extending 2BHK housing scheme.
