VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu discussed the design and construction of the interim building for the High Court, with officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Wednesday at the Secretariat.
According to the design, the interim building will come up on four acres of land with 1.8 lakh sq.ft gross floor area. Based on the design, the court room of the Chief Justice will be 2,000 sq. ft and the chamber 1,200 sq. ft.
There will be 18 court halls each with 1,000 sq. ft carpet area with the judge’s chambers in 6,000 sq. ft. The building will cost '108 crore and will be ready in six to eight months.
CRDA commissioner Sreedhar Cherukuri explained that the design will be presented on February 4 or 5 by Norman+ Fosters and partners and the revised design of the Assembly will be submitted in another two weeks.
In an elaborate interaction with the CRDA officials, Mr Naidu said the the Happy Cities Summit will be between April 10 and 12 at Bhavani islands. It will have the the theme ‘Urban Transformation to Global Living’.
The Chief Minister was consulted to make some important decisions regarding the overall theme, day-wise agendas and potential speakers for the event.
According to a press release from the CMO, Mr Naidu explained that discussions and seminars should be citizen- centric and include urban innovation, next generation technology, urban planning, urban transportation, architecture and design.
“These areas are very crucial for the capital and must be focused during the summit,” he said.
Mr Naidu also asked the officials to concentrate on the Innovation Valley. Officials said that workshops would be organised to benefit city administrators, Mayors, urban planners and other key stakeholders.
At Amaravati, a boat launch facility will be established on six acres of land with a water treatment plant, a training centre for sailing, power boating and refreshment facilities.
The Chief Minister said that the CRDA should proceed to implement this in public private partnership mode and get administrative approval.
On IT infrastructure in the CRDA, officials explained that one million square feet of built-up office space will be available in two IT Towers in Amaravati. The space will be sold to IT and IT Enabled Service companies, and will earn a revenue of Rs 90.6 crore to the CRDA.
Officials also presented a detailed proposal to set up the Gandhi Memorial Park. A total of 19.5 acres of the Sakamuru Park has been allotted for the development of the memorial. They also presented a revised proposal for the 33-m tall NTR statue to be erected on Neerukonda Hill.
