Google Cloud invited to Andhra Pradesh

Lokesh tells Google representatives that the state took steps to turn AP into a Cloud hub.

Vijayawada: IT minister Nara Lokesh, who is touring the US, sought Google Cloud’s help in making AP a Cloud hub. Mr Lokesh said the government will set up Internet landing point at Vizag, connecting Vizag-Andaman and Singapore. He met Google Cloud COO Diane Bryant and Google India team on Wednesday.

He told the Google representatives that the state government has taken various steps to make Andhra Pradesh a Cloud hub, considering the future demand for Cloud and IoT into account. He told them the state government had already released a separate exclusive policy for Cloud activities to attract Cloud centres in the state.

Mr Lokesh informed the that the government has been providing all basic facilities like uninterrupted power, water and land for setting up Cloud centres.

He assured them of security to the data in Cloud and also added the state government has been contemplating to approach the Union government on the changes that are to be brought in certain Acts to provide security to data saved in Cloud.

The IT minister said AP leads other states in the country in Ease of Doing Business. He said that the government has been using various technologies to deliver citizen services using IoT, sensors and drones. After getting information through IoT, sensors and drones, citizen services are being provided using data analytics.
