Engineering admissions to be conducted through online counselling

The preparation for online counselling is going at full swing & students need not come to Anna University for the single window counselling.

CHENNAI: Dispelling doubts about the mode of engineering admissions this year, higher education minister K.P. Anbalagan said the admissions to engineering courses will be conducted through online.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of Kurukshetra, a techno-management festival of Anna University here on Wednesday, he said, “The preparation for online counselling is going at full swing and students need not come to Anna University for the single window counselling.”

When enquired about the proposed common engineering entrance exam, he said, “The entrance exam is unlikely to be introduced this year.” He also warned that strict action would be taken against the students who wield weapons in the public places.

Earlier, inaugurating the four-day techno festival, Governor Banwarilal Purohit called on students to participate in events that enlarge their vision of the world. “In today's India, the opportunities are manifold. Students should not restrict themselves to text-book knowledge and examinations,” he stated.

Higher education secretary Sunil Paliwal said, “We are confident that Anna University will be included among the top 10 public institutions to be awarded the status of the Institute of eminence. The objective of this Kurukshetra fest is to nurture creative thinking especially focus on industry oriented and socially relevant programmes.” Several exciting events like robot wars, water rocketry, ninja coding and datathon will be part of the techno festival.
