Binoy Kodiyeri row: JAAS Tourism owner to address media in Thiruvananthapuram

Press conference on February 5 as Binoy Kodiyeri refutes allegations of financial fraud.

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst raging allegations of financial fraud against Binoy Kodiyeri, all eyes are now set on the press conference to be addressed by JAAS Tourism LLC owner Hasan Ismaeel Abdulla Almarzooqui scheduled to be held in on February 5.

Ram Kishor Singh Yadav, additional advocate general, has sent a request letter to Thiruvananthapuram Press Club for a full quorum press conference on the controversial issue at 4 pm on Monday.

The press conference has been called to “explain real facts and to share detailed and legal documents related to the controversial case in UAE involving Kerala persons.”

The request comes in the wake of Binoy Kodiyeri and his father and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan launching a counter-attack on the Dubai-based businessman. While the father-son duo has refuted the allegations and tried to put up a brave face, they have not yet answered questions about the Binoy’s business activities and his source of income.

Many believe the Dubai-based businessman’s decision to hold a press conference here on Monday is part of pressure tactics. In other words, the businessman has given five days to Binoy to settle the issue and return the money. It will be interesting to see how Binoy reacts to Abdulla Almarzooqui’s press conference move.

In a major blow to the state CPM, the Dubai-based company had accused state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan of cheating them to the tune of '13 crore.

In his complaint, Almarzooqui had sought Indian government’s assistance for registering a formal complaint to extradite Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan who absconded from Dubai after allegedly cheating his company and his partner of Dirhams 7,000,000 ('13 crore).

The contents of the complaint were flashed by a section of news channels recently.

The company had alleged that Binoy was a business partner of a Sharjah based company and friend of Rakhul Krishna who was a partner of JAAS Tourism LLC which has been operating in Dubai since 2007.

Kodiyeri’s son allegedly borrowed 3,13,200 UAE Dirhams approximately 53.61 lakh on collateral security for purchasing an audi car and 45 lakh dirham for his business deals in India, UAE , Saudi and Nepal.

Binoy had refuted the allegations saying that there was no case pending against him in Dubai and there was no travel ban. He even produced certificate from Dubai Police of good conduct and document from Court stating that no case is pending against him.
