New drive soon on school fees in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Parents under the aegis of the Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) are upping the ante to have their voices heard. Initiatives like pasting of stickers on cars, sending post cards to chief minister and holding a car rally would be undertaken by the association in the coming days.
Parents of schoolchildren are waging a relentless fight for the last one and a half years against private, corporate and international schools “fleecing” parents in the name of admission and tuition fees.
Despite their fight garnering wide support, parents are unhappy that the government did not take any concrete steps. With the new academic year set to begin in March, parents have decided to hit the streets once again.
In a novel move, they will strive to paste stickers on nearly 1,000 four-wheelers. These stickers will carry appeals to the chief minister to regulate school fees and stop the “fee-loot” by private schools. Also, the parents’ body plans to distribute 5,000 blank post cards with the chief minister’s Pragathi Bhavan address printed on it.
The public will be asked to write their concerns about private schools and drop those cards in local post boxes. Cards will be distributed in residential colonies and the IT corridor. They will kick-start these initiatives with a car rally on Necklace Road on February 11. HSPA executive member Venkat Sainath said they will meet people and explain to them the issue.
“We are confident of the campaign producing a strong response and helping the cause as most parents have school-going children and they will easily relate to the issue. Members of HSPA and individual school associations are voluntarily contributing to these causes,” he said.
