Police arrested four persons while two others are on the run.

Hyderabad: A former gangster’s daughter who started an NGO and tried to extort money from people using its name was arrested by the police here on Saturday after she went to the house of a sex worker, tricked her into a trap and then threatened her and her customer to extort money from them.

Police said the woman, Mohina Nahida, 26, got Tawakkal Old Age Home registered a month ago. Two days ago she approached a sex worker named Monica, told her that she wished to become a sex worker and asked her to help her get clients.

When one Md Zaheer approached Monika she referred him to Mohina. Mohina came to the woman’s house along with her mother and three other women and one man.

“They locked up the woman and Zaheer in a room, assaulted them, snatched their phones and Rs 10,000 from Zaheer,” said Reinbazar SI Govinda Swamy.

“Mohina had hired the four women by paying them Rs 100 each for election campaigning,” the SI added.

After sending the four women away she asked Monica and Zaheer to give her Rs 50,000 to avoid a police case but they said they had no money. After a while, Monica escaped from her custody and called the police.

Police arrested four persons while two others are on the run. Mohina’s mother is absconding.

Police said Mohina is married and has two children. She is the daughter of gangster Md Akbar who was murdered five years ago. Her brother Md Khaleed, a rowdy sheeter, has cases against him at the Bhavani Nagar police station.

Mohina registered the NGO, Tawakkal Old Age Home with her mother Khamrunnisa as its president, her brother Khaleed as executive member and herself as vice president.
