Trial judges turn ire on Justice P Ubaid
Kochi: There seems to be no end to the controversies over the Thrissur Vigilance Court's recent directive to register an FIR against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar scam case and the subsequent High Court order suspending the lower court order.
A section of trial court judges has urged the Association of Judicial Officers in the state to move a resolution against Justice P. Ubaid of the High Court for his personal remarks against the Thrissur Vigilance Judge S S Vassan.
According to sources, the judges have also asked the association to register an official complaint before Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan.
The lawyer fraternity also is divided over the controversial high court order which suggested to administrative wing of High Court to take action against the Vigilance judge.
A section of lawyers alleges that the single judge surpassed Supreme Court orders against High Court benches criticising lower court judges while another section says there is nothing wrong with the judgment though they find fault with the scathing observations made against the judge.
Judge Vassan had applied for voluntary retirement from service after Justice Ubaid supended his order to file an FIR against Excise Minister K Babu in the bar bribery scam case.
