New responsibility a chance to change Hyderabad: KTR

Rama Rao said that his new responsibility entails him to improve the living conditions as well as give a facelift to the city.

Hyderabad: Thanking the Chief Minister for entrusting him with the municipal administration portfolio, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said that he would take the responsibility as a challenge and try to change the face of Hyderabad in the coming years so that it attains a global status.

Speaking to newsmen at Telangana Bhavan after a hectic campaign for the GHMC polls, Mr Rama Rao said that his new responsibility entails him to improve the living conditions as well as give a facelift to the city. Commenting on TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s claim that it was he who developed Hyderabad and helped it get international recognition, Mr Rama Rao said, “If this was the case, why did people reject him in the 2004 general elections and in 2009 GHMC elections? Naidu needs to explain this.”

He appealed to the people of Hyderabad to give a chance to the TRS in GHMC polls, saying “It is my responsibility to change the face of Hyderabad in all respects. I will take care of all sections and problems and solve everything.”

Taking a dig at the TD-BJP combine, Mr Rama Rao said he failed to understand why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not visit Hyderabad, during the last 19 months. “Why is the NDA continuing its stepmotherly attitude while sanctioning various projects and funds to Telangana?” he wondered.

Referring to TD leaders statements on getting Central funds for Hyderabad in case they win the GHMC polls, the minister said it would be better for them to develop Amaravati, AP’s capital, with Central funds first and then talk about other cities.
