Following the directions of the state government, the excise officials are seriously trying to remove the manufacture and sale of ID liquor.

They had identified sale points and destroyed the liquor. Collector Yogita Rana declared Nizamabad as ID liquor-free district. But those addicted continued to buy the ID liquor.

It is known that Gajulpet and Mirch compound areas are well known for manufacturing and sale of gudumba.

The liquor is being sold in plastic covers at selected points. Workers, auto drivers, petty vendors and others addicted to ID liquor for its cheap price and kick it gives them.

Due to the aggressive attitude and criminal background of ID liquor traders, people are afraid to inform about their activities to the authorities.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, prohibition and excise officer said that Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) sales were increased due to curbs on ID liquor in the district. For last few months, the sale of IMFL increased, he said.

To avoid unnecessary complications, people also gave up ID liquor and spurious toddy consumption, he opined.
