Telangana: BTech boy ends life, Blue Whale blamed
Hyderabad: A 19-year-old BTech student from BITS Pilani is suspected to be the first victim of the internet game Blue Whale in Telangana.
T. Varun, who was in his second year, and was home on vacation, was found dead at his residence in Gandipet on Saturday morning with a plastic bag tied around his face. In the course of the game participants are told to do a series of anti-social acts that culminate in suicide. The police learnt that Varun was addicted to the internet and used to frequently browse video games and watch movies.
“He spent all his time on his computer. So much so that his father, T. Vijay Bhaskar, warned him that he will disconnect the Internet if he does not stop,” said Rajendranagar sub-inspector K. Venkat Reddy, who is investigating the case.
