Amaravati on MNCs' radar

Hyderabad has been attracting investors from across the globe.

Vijayawada: The government’s decision to speed up the works on the Capital city has given a hint to investors and MNCs to turn their attention on Amaravati in the New Year.

Hyderabad has been attracting investors from across the globe. The Telangana capital has companies like Apple, Facebook, Google and Amazon. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wants Amaravati to be an unparallel city in India. Among the innovative features are navigation canals around the city and connecting two islands in the River Krishna.

Amaravati, being built on a 217 sq km open field in Guntur district, is being designed to have 51 per cent green spaces and 10 per cent water bodies with a plan to house some of the most iconic buildings. The city is being modelled on Singapore. According to the timeline of the Rs 58,000 crore project, the city will be populated and functional by the end of its second phase, in 2024.By that time, most of the buildings, luxury hotels, universities and the central business districts will be operational. The third and final phase is scheduled to be completed by 2029.

It may be recalled as to how the government is concentrating on tourism to attract investment firms. As part of it, the CM had held a meeting with tourism officials last week and asked them to develop the projects on international standards.

The Bhavani Island Tourism Corporation had appointed a consortium of CBT and Studio PoD, which has developed a concept master plan for Islands 1 (792 acres) and 3 (515 acres).
