Chennai: In an obvious reply to allegations from some quarters that the AIADMK's leadership had gone into the hands of anti-Dalit forces, its general secretary V.K. Sasikala said MGR and Jayalalithaa were leaders beyond caste or religion and asserted that the AIADMK would continue to function in the same way.
She also assured that barring Anna, MGR and Jayalalitha, no one would be given prominence in the movement. She said “the party would stick to purity in public life so that those criticising us will accept us”.
In an indirect reply to the allegations on medical treatment for Jayalalithaa, Sasikala said the doctors struggled for 75 days to save Jayalalithaa, and her health progressed to the level of transferring Jayalalithaa to a private room from intensive care unit. She also pointed out that AIMMS doctors were also brought to provide the best treatment and doctors from Singapore started the physiotherapy treatment for Jayalalitha. “I was hopeful that Jayalalithaa could be brought back to Poes Garden after total recovery, but God had snatched her away”.
“Those who had spend a few seconds with Amma are unable to cope with her death. I have spent 33 years with her and words cannot express how I feel. My only wish was that she should be well. I was spending everyday on thinking about my elder sister”, she said.
