Pune Porsche Case Accused Gets Bail; Celebration Video Sparks Debate

In the video doing rounds online, family members are allegedly seen dancing during what many users claim was a post-bail celebration

The Pune Porsche crash case has once again returned to the centre of public outrage, after a viral video allegedly showed the accused teenager’s family celebrating bail with loud music, dancing, and garlands made of currency notes. The clip, now circulating widely across Instagram and X, has triggered intense backlash online, with many calling the visuals “insensitive” and “a mockery of justice” in a case where two young lives were lost.

The controversy traces back to the May 19, 2024 Pune Porsche crash, where a 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal, allegedly drove a luxury Porsche under the influence of alcohol and rammed into a motorcycle, killing two IT professionals — Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. The case had already sparked nationwide anger after the juvenile was initially granted bail within hours, reportedly on conditions that included writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

Public anger deepened further as investigators later alleged attempts to tamper with evidence minor’s parents- Vishal Agarwal and Shivani Agarwal were arrested for allegedly tampering with the blood reports to prove that the accused was not drunk, at the same time they tried to frame their driver for the accident. allegations against family members, and accusations of influence and cover-ups transformed the case from a tragic accident into a symbol of privilege and unequal justice.

Now, the latest viral celebration clip has reopened old wounds.

In the video doing rounds online, family members are allegedly seen dancing during what many users claim was a post-bail celebration. Social media users were especially enraged by the use of loud celebratory background music and currency-note garlands, which many interpreted as a display of power and a lack of remorse. Several clips online mention the song “System Pe System” playing in the background, though the authenticity and exact timing of the footage remain under discussion online.

The internet reaction was immediate and brutal.

“This isn’t celebration, this is arrogance,” one user wrote on X.

Another commented: “Two people died and they’re dancing like they won something.”

Many users also brought back the “300-word essay” controversy, with memes and sarcastic comments once again flooding social media platforms. Others pointed out the contrast between the grieving families of the victims and the celebratory visuals emerging from the accused’s side.

The outrage has also reignited conversations around class privilege, accountability, and whether influential families are treated differently by the system and the Law. For many young Indians, the victims represented ordinary working professionals most likely from middle-lower-middle class, trying to build their lives, while the accused came to symbolize wealth, influence, and legal leniency.

While supporters of the family argue that bail is a legal right and that the viral clips may lack full context, or it’s their right to celebrate the freedom, public sentiment online remains overwhelmingly critical. Legal experts, too, have reminded people that bail does not mean free from all the charges, and investigations connected to the case are still ongoing.

As the video continues to circulate online, the Pune Porsche case once again finds itself at the intersection of law, privilege, and public emotion — proving that in the age of social media, perception can become just as powerful as the courtroom itself.
