Four Accused in Tiger Shroff Car Firing Case Remanded to Police Custody

A Mumbai court remands four accused, including two women, till October 26 over allegations of procuring and transporting firearms used in the Juhu shooting.

A magistrate court in Mumbai on Thursday remanded four accused, including two women, to police custody till October 26 in connection with the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in the Juhu area, officials said.

The accused, identified as Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), both residents of Haryana’s Sonipat district, and Radha (23) and Babita (23), both from Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended in Delhi and brought to Mumbai before being produced in court.

Seeking their custody, Mumbai Police told the court that the accused had allegedly played an active role in the conspiracy alongside those arrested earlier. According to the police, they supplied firearms used in the crime.

The prosecution further alleged that two of the accused had travelled to Amritsar to procure the weapons, while the two women allegedly transported the firearms to Mumbai by train and handed them over to the attackers.

Opposing the police remand, defence lawyers Ajinkya Mirgul and Satyavrat Joshi argued that there was no material evidence against the accused and that they had been arrested on mere suspicion. They contended that custodial interrogation was unwarranted and sought their judicial custody.

After hearing both sides, the court remanded the four accused to police custody till October 26.

Firing at Juhu

The incident occurred on Sunday evening when at least two men allegedly fired at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area before fleeing on a motorcycle. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.

According to Mumbai Police, five to six rounds were fired at the vehicle. A motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters was later found abandoned in Andheri. Police have registered a case under provisions relating to attempt to murder and the Arms Act.

With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested in the case has reached 10. On Wednesday, a court remanded three other accused — Rehan alias Sukka, Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan and Phool Singh — to police custody till October 31.

The investigation is ongoing.
