Female BJP Worker Killed in West Bengal

Berhampore: A female BJP worker was murdered by a group of armed villagers at Jangipur in Murshidabad of West Bengal. The victim, Menoka Mondal (40), was a member of Darfarpur gram panchayat.
On Sunday afternoon, seven villagers led by Kuran Mondal attacked Menoka at home in Jagadananda Bati village of Raghunathganj. They were carrying iron rods and sharp cutting weapons.
The victim’s daughter Kakali alleged, “My mother tried to pacify them. But they threw dirty things into our kitchen. My mother protested. Then they tried to attack my father. My mother tried to resist them but they hit my mother on head with iron rods repeatedly.”
She added, “My mother fell unconscious with severe head injuries. We admitted her to Jangipur Hospital but her health condition worsened. She was referred to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital. My mother succumbed to injuries there around midnight."
Four persons, including two family members of the victim, were also injured in the fight. They were admitted at Jangipur hospital. According to Kakali, trouble began over a disputed piece of land of 38 decimal. Later the police arrested Kuran but ruled out any political rivalry behind the murder.
