Bhubaneswar Nurse Ends Life, Relationship Dispute Suspected
Police detained two men, including the woman’s former boyfriend.

Bhubaneswar : A staff nurse of a private hospital was found hanging in her rented accommodation in Bhubaneswar’s Damana area on Wednesday, with police investigating a suspected personal relationship dispute as a possible reason behind the death.
The deceased, who worked as a staff nurse at a private hospital in Patia, was found hanging inside her rented house. Police recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
During the preliminary investigation, police detained two men, including the woman’s former boyfriend, for questioning. Officials said they were examining all possible angles, including allegations of harassment and blackmail.
The woman’s family alleged that she had recently entered into a new relationship and that her former boyfriend had allegedly been threatening and mentally harassing her after learning about it. They claimed that the alleged harassment pushed her to take the extreme step.
“Two persons — Paramananda Hati from Kalahandi and Mahesh Nath from Kendrapara — were allegedly harassing my niece. They should be given exemplary punishment,” the deceased’s uncle told reporters.
Police have collected call recordings and other digital evidence as part of the investigation to verify the allegations.
An unnatural death case has been registered, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe, police said.
