Hyderabad: Girl defamed on TikTok, Facebook

One of the accused wanted to take revenge against her ex-husband whom she suspected of having a relationship with the victim, said the police.

Hyderabad: Two women who collected the private pictures of a girl living in the city and shared them on TikTok and Facebook by creating fake profiles were arrested by the Rachakonda cyber crime police.

One of the accused wanted to take revenge against her ex-husband whom she suspected of having a relationship with the victim, said the police. According to the Rachakonda cyber crime police, G. Pavithra, 29, got a divorce from her husband in 2015.

After that, she still bore a grudge suspected that her ex-husband was having a relationship with one of his relatives, a girl. Pavithra wanted to take revenge.

To that end, she befriended one N. Krishna Veni, 21, through TikTok, and made her befriend the victim and collect the private pictures of the girl.

Krishna Veni shared the pictures with Pavithra, using which she created four fake profiles on TikTok and one fake profile on Facebook and posted the pictures on these social media platforms to defame the girl’s character, said the police.

A case was registered against the duo under sections 506, 509 of the Indian Penal Code and 66C and D of the Information Technology Act.

They were arrested on Wednesday, the police added.
