TS migrant worker to be released from Malaysia jail on October 4

Marishetty Tirupati, a migrant labourer from Jagtial district was arrested while illegally entering Malaysia from Thailand

Nizamabad: Marishetty Tirupati, a migrant labourer from Dammannapet village in Jagtial district, will be released from Malaysian custody on October 4.

On April 2, 2023, he was arrested while illegally entering Malaysia from Thailand. Tirupati travelled to Malaysia with the help of a travel agent in search of work, according to TPCC NRS cell state coordinator Sheikh Chand Pasha.

The agent collected '1.35 lakh from Tirupati and transported him to Chennai before flying to Thailand. The victim was being transported by bus from Thailand to Malaysia when Malaysian authorities apprehended him at the border. On April 2, the victim called his wife Laxmi, and there has been no contact with him since.

Sheikh Chand Pasha checked about the event with NRI cell officials in Telangana state, as well as the Indian embassy in Thailand and Malaysia, after receiving a complaint from Tirupati family members. Finally, he learned that Tirupati had been imprisoned in Malaysia.

Tirupati's required documentation have been filed in order for him to be released from jail. The case was finally agreed to release Marishetty Tirupati from jail on October 4 after the External Affairs Ministry and Malaysian officials coordinated the matter. Sheikh Chand Pasha, state coordinator of the TPCC NRI cell, cautioned citizens not to fall prey to Gulf agents.
